COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) Delivers Second 64,000 DWT Bulker to COSCO SHIPPING Development

On August 5, COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan) held a naming and delivery ceremony for the “Feng Shun Hai”, the second 64,000 DWT bulk carrier built for COSCO SHIPPING Development.

Following the delivery of the series’ first vessel, the “Feng Da Hai”, on July 7, the “Feng Shun Hai” has also been successfully delivered, marking the continued, highly efficient progress of the collaboration between the two parties on the 64,000 DWT bulk carrier series project.

The vessel “Feng Shun Hai” has an overall length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 32.26 meters, and a design draft of 11.3 meters, incorporating the latest design from the COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry Design and Research Institute. Building on experience gained from the construction of the lead vessel, the project team optimized the equipment commissioning process; the vessel’s measured speed and fuel consumption figures both surpassed contractual requirements.

Since entering the outfitting phase on April 20, the project team has fully leveraged the experience gained from constructing the lead vessel, capitalized on the advantages of serial production, and continuously optimized design and construction processes. The vessel “Feng Shun Hai” was successfully launched on June 15 and commenced sea trials on July 21. It efficiently completed all trial objectives by July 23, with key technical indicators—such as speed, fuel consumption, vibration and noise levels, and maneuverability—meeting or exceeding regulatory requirements.

The successful delivery of the “Feng Shun Hai” further demonstrates COSCO SHIPPING Heavy Industry (Zhoushan)’s capabilities in the serial batch construction and lean management of bulk carriers, while also laying a solid foundation for deepening collaborative ties with COSCO SHIPPING Development.
