Huangpu Wenchong and CSTC Sign 2+2 1,900-TEU Container Ship Order with Greece’s Erasmus Shipinvest

On July 16, Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), in collaboration with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), signed another contract with Greece’s Erasmus Shipinvest Group for the construction of 2+2 1,900-TEU container ships.

It is worth noting that prior to securing the latest order for two 1,900-TEU container ships, Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding had just signed a comprehensive strategic cooperation agreement with Erasmus Shipinvest. The two parties will continue to work in tandem and deepen their collaboration in areas such as new shipbuilding and ship repair, propelling their partnership into a new phase of comprehensive and in-depth cooperation.

According to reports, the partnership between Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding and Erasmus Shipinvest began on April 2, 2026, when the two parties signed a contract for the construction of an initial batch of 2+2 1,800-TEU container ships; On June 3, Erasmus Shipinvest, in partnership with China United Lines, placed another order with Huangpu Wenchong for 2+2 1,900-TEU container ships. Including the latest project, the total number of new ship orders under their joint cooperation has increased to 6+6 vessels.

Huangpu Wenchong stated that the newly contracted vessel type is the “Swan” series of premium feeder container ships, independently developed by Huangpu Wenchong. A total of 30 vessels in the “Swan” series have been delivered to date, with 44 on order. Upon delivery, this batch of vessels will support Erasmus Shipinvest’s fleet renewal and green transition, help expand the feeder container transport market, increase the size of its modern fleet, and provide global customers with higher-quality, more efficient shipping services.
