Cape Shipping Takes Delivery of Suezmax Newbuild “CAPE ARMATHIA” from Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding

On July 14, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding held a signing and delivery ceremony for the 158,000 DWT Suezmax crude oil tanker “CAPE ARMATHIA”, built for the Greek company Cape Shipping.

This vessel is the second 158,000 DWT Suezmax crude oil tanker built by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding for Cape Shipping. It was designed independently by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding and is classed by Lloyd’s Register.

During the construction of the “CAPE ARMATHIA”, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding achieved a significant improvement in construction efficiency through continuous optimization of its processes, while ensuring quality. This vessel is the first of its class at the company to have the coating of five ballast tanks and three large fuel tanks completed in the dry dock.

With the in-depth implementation of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding’s lean management initiatives, the efficiency of all post-launching preparation works for vessels has been continuously improved, enabling the period from launching to sea trial to reach an industry-leading level.
