HD KSOE Secures $311M MR Tanker Order, Reaches 68.8% of 2026 Annual Target

On July 9, HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering (HD KSOE), a shipbuilding intermediate holding company of HD Hyundai Group’s shipbuilding business—announced that it had secured an order from a Middle Eastern client to build six product tankers for a total of 469.9 billion won (approximately US$311.2 million), with a unit price of around US$51.9 million.

HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is responsible for constructing this batch of MR-type product tankers, with all deliveries scheduled for completion by the first half of 2029.

According to industry sources, the shipowner is Oman’s Asyad Shipping, and the new vessels have secured five-year time charters from energy companies.

With this latest contract, HD KSOE has secured orders for 139 new vessels totaling $16.03 billion so far this year, achieving 68.8% of its annual order target of $23.31 billion.

The order breakdown by vessel type includes 17 LNG carriers, 28 container ships, 40 gas carriers, 11 crude oil tankers, 39 product tankers, and 2 car carriers (PCTCs), among others.
