Wison New Energies’ 2,400-Ton Gantry Crane Passes Load Test at Qidong Base

On July 3, 2026, the 2,400-ton long-span single-girder gantry crane manufactured by Jiangsu Weihua Marine Heavy Industry for Wison New Energies successfully completed its heavy-load test. This gantry crane will work alongside another long-span, 1,200-ton by 180-meter gantry crane to carry out the lifting and assembly of hull and offshore engineering sections at Wison New Energies’ Qidong base.

Constructed by Weihua Marine Heavy Industry with work commencing on September 8, 2025, this gantry crane is a core piece of lifting equipment custom-engineered by Wison New Energies for high-end offshore equipment manufacturing operations. It supports multiple operating modes, including single-hook lifting, tandem lifting using two, three, or four hooks, and in-air turning of hull sections.

This type of gantry crane features two 2×600-ton upper trolleys and one 700/50-ton lower trolley operating on the same rails, with the capability for the trolleys to pass one another. It offers a maximum tandem lifting capacity of 2,400 tons across the entire span of the main girder (with a trolley spacing of ≥50 meters), effectively ensuring stability and safety during heavy-load operations; the crane has a rail span of 200 meters and a total self-weight of 7,200 tons.

The Wison New Energies Qidong base project was officially launched in August 2024, with construction commencing in February 2025. Civil engineering for the facility’s buildings was completed in April 2026; equipment commissioning is currently underway, and the project is scheduled for full completion and the start of production in October 2026.

The Wison New Energies Qidong Yard spans approximately 1.2 million square meters, has a coastline of 1,372 meters, and is equipped with a 520M(L) x 90M(W) offshore dock. The overall planning and design of Qidong Yard is completed by China Shipbuilding NDRI Engineering Co., Ltd.

Phase I of the project is anticipated to be completed and put into operation by the fourth quarter of 2025. By then, it will become a strategic pillar of enhancing WNE’s production capacity. The Qidong Yard will further empower Wison by delivering competitive integrated EPCIC solutions, such as large and ultra-large floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) units, low-carbon floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) units, and modular projects, etc., promoting the implementation of innovative projects and driving the high-quality growth of the local marine economy.
