DSIC Holds Naming Ceremony for 175,000 cbm LNG Carrier “Sea Creation” for CMES

On June 18, a naming ceremony was held for the “Sea Creation”, the third 175,000 cubic meter LNG carrier built by CSSC Dalian Shipbuilding Industry co.,ltd. (DSIC) in collaboration with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC) for China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES).

The “Sea Creation” vessel was independently developed and designed by DSIC. It is equipped with the state-of-the-art Mark III Flex cargo containment system, as well as a dual-fuel main engine, dual-fuel generators, a conventional fuel oil boiler, a cargo handling system, a reliquefaction unit, and an air lubrication system. This vessel offers a well-balanced combination of economy, flexibility, and compatibility, and is capable of berthing at the majority of large LNG terminals worldwide.

Building on the construction experience gained from previous vessels, DSIC has continuously optimized and upgraded its processes during the construction of this series, achieving a dual leap forward in both construction efficiency and quality. The cargo containment system of the “Sea Creation” achieved outstanding results, with zero leaks detected during acoustic testing, zero leaks during ammonia testing in a single cargo hold, and zero leaks in the cryogenic piping and insulation during cold pipe filling.

The vessel successfully completed its first independent “fuel oil + natural gas” combined sea trial, which simulated actual operational conditions as closely as possible. All test items were completed to a high standard in just 10 days, with the vessel operating stably throughout.

The first two sister ships in this project, the “Sea Spirit” and the “Sea Navigator”, were delivered in September 2025 and January 2026, respectively. To date, they have completed more than 10 voyages and are operating smoothly and efficiently.
