According to an official announcement from Shenghang Co., Ltd., on June 16, Nanjing Shenghang Shipping signed a contract with Zhejiang Dongpeng Shipbuilding & Repairing (Dongpeng Shipbuilding) for the construction of a 6,200 DWT stainless-steel product/chemical tanker, which is expected to be delivered by the end of 2027.

As reported, the vessel covered by this contract is a 6,200 DWT stainless steel chemical/product oil tanker designed for both domestic and international trade, and it marks the third stainless steel chemical/product oil tanker built through the partnership between the two parties.

The new vessel will adopt the overall design of the “Shenghang Discovery,” which has already been delivered and is in operation, while incorporating further optimizations and adjustments to equipment configuration, engine room layout, and cargo hold materials to enhance the vessel’s economic efficiency, operational convenience, and crew comfort.

In addition to this order, Dongpeng Shipbuilding recently signed a contract to build two 900-TEU all-electric container ships for Zen, a subsidiary of the Norwegian maritime investment group Eitzen. Upon completion, these vessels are expected to be the world’s largest all-electric container ships and are scheduled for delivery in 2028.
