DSIC Wins AMCL’s Shuttle Tanker Construction Procurement Project

The results of the “Shuttle Tanker Selection Vessel Construction Procurement Project” of the Associated Marine Time Company (Hong Kong) Limited have been announced: Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) has been selected as the winning bidder.

In accordance with the invitation to bid, DSIC will construct one shuttle tanker, with delivery scheduled no later than September 30, 2028.

It is reported that ASSOCIATED MARITIME COMPANY (HONG KONG) LIMITED is a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES), namely Associated Maritime Company (Hong Kong) Limited(AMCL). China Merchants Shipping announced earlier this year that, through its wholly-owned subsidiary Haihong Hong Kong, it had signed a contract with Dalian Shipbuilding on December 31, 2025, for the construction of one plus one 154,000 DWT Suezmax shuttle tankers. The new vessels will be equipped with DP2 dynamic positioning systems.

In addition to shuttle tankers, in March 2026, CMES also ordered 10 Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) with dual-fuel provisioned design from DSIC through AMCL, with a total cost of approximately RMB 8.566 billion (approximately US$12.63 billion). They are expected to be delivered between 2028 and 2030 and will be equipped with desulfurization scrubbers and shaft generators.

Since the beginning of this year, DSIC has secured several new vessels in the tanker market. Excluding the latest successful bid for a shuttle tanker, it has undertaken contracts for 18+2 VLCCs, 1 shuttle tanker, and 6+2 product tankers, totaling 25+4 tankers.

In the container ship market, the 12 9,200 TEU container ships ordered by Costamare of Greece from DSIC took effect in April 2026, with a total cost of approximately RMB 9 billion, to be paid in RMB, and will be delivered successively between 2028 and 2030.

In addition, DSIC recently disclosed a tanker order scheduled for 2025, specifically for a 115,000 DWT Aframax tanker ordered by Greek shipowner New Shipping. This order was not previously disclosed and the delivery date is relatively early.
