Hudong-Zhonghua Starts Construction on First of Six “Changheng Series” LNG Carriers for ENN-NG

On May 8, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding kicked off construction on the first vessel of the second phase of the 174,000 m³ LNG carrier project for ENN Natural Gas Co., Ltd. (ENN-NG). The second batch of the series consists of a total of six vessels.

This type of vessel is part of Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding’s “Changheng Series”LNG carrier. It adopts the latest dual-fuel low-speed engine propulsion system, the latest generation of twin tail fins, the latest generation of NO96 Super+ containment system, high-efficiency propeller and rudder energy-saving devices, and a whole-ship integrated lightweight design, among other low-carbon, energy-saving, and digital intelligent technologies.

It has achieved a breakthrough in the core equipment technology of domestically produced liquid cargo systems, reducing overall energy consumption by 10.7%, reducing evaporation rate to 0.085%/day (15% lower than the previous generation L03+ system), and increasing the loading rate to 99.3%. Its energy efficiency and environmental performance are internationally leading.

Founded in Langfang, Hebei Province, ENN-NG’s business covers the entire industry chain, including city gas, LNG distribution, trading, transportation and storage, production, and engineering manufacturing. It operates China’s first privately-owned LNG receiving terminal in Zhoushan. This project is a major gas source base for Zhejiang Province, responsible for natural gas supply and peak shaving in the Yangtze River Delta and even nationwide. With the full operation of Phase III in August 2025, the Zhoushan receiving terminal’s annual unloading capacity has jumped to the 10 million ton level (over 10 million tons/year), with a total storage tank capacity of 1.52 million cubic meters.
