Recently, Zhou Xuhui, general manager of Guangzhou Shipyard International Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), revealed at a symposium that Guangzhou Shipyard International currently has contracts worth nearly 100 billion yuan (US$14.65 billion), of which international orders account for more than 95%, with production scheduled until 2030.

In terms of industrial upgrading, Guangzhou Shipyard International will vigorously promote the integration of shipbuilding and repair, converting Repair and Construction Dock No. 2 for shipbuilding purposes, expanding the final assembly area, and adopting industrial robots, digital twins, and smart factories to enhance shipbuilding efficiency.
Regarding key project development, Zhou Xuhui stated that Guangzhou Shipyard International is collaborating with CSSC Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding to advance the Longxue North New Land Acquisition Project, with a total investment exceeding 10 billion yuan. The project aims to break ground in July 2026 and is expected to generate an additional 10.5 billion yuan in revenue, further driving industrial clustering and product upgrades.
Meanwhile, Guangzhou Shipyard International will collaborate with the Guangdong Port and Shipping Group to revitalize and utilize the Xiaohu Island shipbuilding base in Nansha, establishing a world-class production line for the research, design, and construction of small and medium-sized specialty vessels. With a total investment of approximately 1 billion yuan, the project will feature three specialized production lines for aluminum alloy, carbon fiber, and other materials. Once production reaches full capacity in two to three years, the annual output value is expected to exceed 5 billion yuan (approximately US$732 million).
According to reports, the aluminum alloy production line at Xiaohudao Shipbuilding Base will have the capability to build ships of 150 meters and below, as well as luxury yachts and superyachts of 20-80 meters; the carbon fiber production line will have the capability to build passenger ships, cruise ships, high-end yachts, and unmanned vessels of 60 meters and below.
Guangdong Port and Shipping Group is a large-scale state-owned enterprise group under the supervision of the Guangdong Provincial State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission. It is the only large-scale backbone enterprise in Guangdong specializing in port, shipping, and logistics investment, operation, and management. Its main businesses include port logistics, investment, operation, and management, and it currently has nine directly affiliated enterprises. In shipbuilding, the group actively promotes the development of high-end equipment manufacturing for new material ships. By establishing the first carbon fiber ship production line in China, it has filled the gap in the domestic manufacturing of new material ship equipment.
As a key shipbuilding and repair enterprise of CSSC in Guangdong Province, Guangzhou Shipyard International relocated to the Nansha Longxue shipbuilding base in 2018. Data shows that in 2025, Guangzhou Shipyard International achieved record highs in five key indicators: revenue, profit, order intake, output value, and ship delivery. Revenue reached 20.2 billion yuan (approximately US$2.959 billion), a year-on-year increase of 14.4%. During the 14th Five-Year Plan period, GSI achieved cumulative revenue exceeding 80 billion yuan (approximately US$11.72 billion), completing 114.6% of its planned target.
According to the plan, Guangzhou Shipyard International will focus on enhancing its innovation capabilities in four key areas: technology, products, operational scale, and industrial systems. The company aims to achieve revenue exceeding 35 billion yuan (approximately US$5.127 billion) by 2030 and drive revenue at the Longxue Shipbuilding Base to surpass 60 billion yuan (approximately US$8.790 billion), thereby injecting strong momentum into the development of a modern marine industrial system in Nansha District.
