Hyundai Mipo Dockyard Receives order for 2 LPG Carriers

HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering(HD KSOE) announced on Nov. 23 that it recently signed a contract with an African shipowner for the construction of two liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) carriers, with an order value of KRW 185.3 billion (about US$140 million) and a price tag of about US$70 million per vessel.

The new vessel will be built by Hyundai Mipo Dockyard(HMD) and is expected to be delivered in December 2026.

Including the latest orders, HD KSOE has taken orders for 151 new vessels (seats) valued at US$ 21.37 million so far this year, accomplishing 35.9% of the annual order target of US$15.74 billion for the year.

Classified by vessel type, it includes 39 LNG carriers, 37 product tankers, 29 container ships, 30 LPG carriers, 7 tankers, 4 car carriers (PCTC), 2 ethane carriers, 2 liquefied carbon dioxide carriers, and 1 FPU.

Up till now, HD Hyundai Group is the only shipbuilding company in Korea that has achieved the annual order target, and it is also the first shipbuilding company in Korea that has signed the second phase of the Qatar Energy “Hundred Ships Program”.
