On April 10, Zhoushan Changhong International held a steel-cutting ceremony for the second 3,100-TEU container ship it is building for the Greek shipowner COSTAMARE SHIPPING.

Designed by Neptun, this vessel is a highly competitive feeder container ship. With an overall length of approximately 199.98 meters, a beam of 35.2 meters, and a draft of 17.9 meters, the vessel is classed by DNV. It is equipped with a medium-voltage shore power system, allowing the ship’s generators to be shut down while in port, thereby effectively reducing carbon emissions, sulfur emissions, and other air pollutants.
The hull shape is optimized for various draft and trim conditions, achieving a speed of over 18.6 knots under 90% SMCR operating conditions, while significantly reducing fuel consumption in economic speed mode.
The entire vessel structure has undergone strength verification and reinforcement through Finite Element Analysis, covering a comprehensive range of load conditions (including potential whipping loads). The vessel is equipped with a desulfurization system, enabling the use of high-sulfur fuel to enhance operational economics; furthermore, both the main engine and main generators are fitted with SCR systems to meet Tier III emission requirements.
