On April 9, Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding officially signed and delivered the 7,000 TEU container ship “TS KELANG,” built for TS Lines.

Chen Shao-xiang, shipowner’s representative and Vice Chairman of TS Lines, stated, “The ‘TS KELANG’ offers high technical and economic value, aligns with environmental trends, and demonstrates excellent operational efficiency and emission reduction capabilities, showcasing the results of our company’s operational upgrades.”
In addition to the delivered 7,000 TEU container ship, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding is currently constructing two large 14,000 TEU container ships for TS Lines—hull numbers H1636 and H1637—with construction commencing on March 13 and March 30, 2026, respectively.

The 14,000-TEU container ship is the fourth type of container ship built by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding; the other three types have capacities of 7,000 TEU, 9,200 TEU, and 11,000 TEU, respectively.
Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding stated that during the construction of the vessel H1637, it adopted the three-section modular construction process for the first time. Specifically, the entire ship was assembled in the dry dock in three batches, with the vessel being floated twice within the dock before being launched.
