On March 20, Mawei Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group, and T.S. Lines officially signed a contract for the construction of four 2,900 TEU container ships. This marks another collaboration between the two parties following the order for 2+2 vessels of the same type signed in November 2025.

This 2,900 TEU container ship adopts a Chittagong-type wide-body design, with a length of 185.99 meters, a beam of 35.2 meters, a depth of 17.2 meters, a full-load draft of 11 meters, and a deadweight of approximately 36,380 tons. It features internationally advanced energy-efficient and eco-friendly design, offering outstanding environmental performance and operational efficiency. It has been specifically optimized for Nordic trade routes and restricted waterways, balancing ease of operation with high operational efficiency, making it a highly efficient, economical, and eco-friendly container ship.
In recent years, Mawei Shipbuilding has continued to focus on the container ship sector. To date, the company has delivered over 100 container ships of various sizes, including 700 TEU, 1,100 TEU, 2,900 TEU, and 3,700 TEU ships, establishing the capacity for batch production of the main ship types in the feeder container ship market.
Mawei Shipbuilding’s partnership with T.S. Lines began in 2021, when the two companies signed an order for eight 1,100 TEU and six 2,900 TEU container ships—the largest container ship order Mawei Shipbuilding had ever received at the time—all of which have now been delivered. This additional order not only continues the long-standing and stable partnership between the two parties but also further solidifies Mawei Shipbuilding’s leading position in the feeder container ship market.
