On March 5, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation’s subsidiary, CSSC Chengxi Shipyard, delivered the 84,500 DWT dry bulk carrier “CSPC SAGITTARIUS” at its Yangzhou facility to CITIC Financial Leasing, which is the seventh new building delivered by CSSC Chengxi Shipyard this year.

As a high-quality vessel designed to meet the diverse needs of cargo transportation, this vessel combines professionalism and comprehensive advantages in its design and construction. The vessel is 225 meters long, 36 meters wide, and 21.05 meters deep, with a design draft of 10 meters. Its cargo hold features a wide size hatch opening design, coupled with recessed inner bottom legs and heavy-duty back-mounted hatch covers. The precision and control requirements for its construction are higher than those for ordinary container ships.

With its sophisticated craftsmanship, this vessel can flexibly carry various types of cargo, including pulp, containers, and bulk cargo, and can transport 3,625 containers when fully loaded. Adhering to the core design concepts of green environmental protection and high efficiency and energy saving, the vessel is equipped with an advanced power system, desulfurization system, main engine SCR system, and high-voltage shore power system. While significantly reducing energy consumption and pollution emissions, it simultaneously improves navigation efficiency and sea stability, representing an important achievement of CSSC Chengxi in its deep cultivation of the green shipbuilding field.
With its advanced manufacturing capabilities, this vessel can flexibly carry multiple cargo types including pulp, containers, and bulk goods, with a maximum capacity of 3,625 TEUs when fully loaded. Guided by core design principles of environmental sustainability and energy efficiency, the vessel incorporates an advanced propulsion system, desulfurization system, main engine SCR system, and high-voltage shore power system. This configuration significantly reduces energy consumption and pollutant emissions while simultaneously enhancing navigation efficiency and seakeeping performance, representing a major achievement in CSSC Chengxi’s commitment to advancing green shipbuilding.
The vessel was launched on November 18, 2025. CSSC Chengxi Shipyard focused on standardizing construction cycles and refining project management to continuously optimize processes and enhance production efficiency. During sea trials, the shipyard completed all testing items in just 39 hours, with some issues resolved in real-time during the trials. This laid a solid foundation for the vessel’s early delivery.
