On February 27, Sanfu Shipbuilding held a steel cutting ceremony for the first 4,300 TEU container ship in a series built for a Danish shipowner in the steel processing workshop. This is the second vessel to start construction within two days after the Spring Festival. On February 26, construction of a 14,000 DWT multi-purpose vessel for a German shipowner also commenced smoothly.

The 4300TEU container ship is a medium-sized container ship jointly designed and developed by Sanfu Shipbuilding and Shanghai Ship Research and Design Institute (SDARI). It is 220 meters long, 37.5 meters wide, has a design draft of 11.5 meters and a speed of 19 knots.
The vessel adopts advanced design concepts and green technologies, achieving a harmonious balance between efficient operation, economic performance, and low carbon emissions, precisely meeting the development needs of the current mainstream international shipping market.
In the global trend of the shipping industry’s transition to green and low-carbon practices, the ship’s environmental advantages are particularly prominent. The vessel integrates a series of advanced environmental protection equipment, including a desulfurization tower, an SCR denitrification system, and a high-voltage shore power system, fully complying with the latest emission reduction requirements of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). This effectively controls emissions of pollutants such as nitrogen oxides and sulfur oxides, practicing the concept of green shipping from the source. Of particular note is the ability to connect to high-voltage shore power during port berthing, achieving “zero emissions” during the berthing phase, providing practical equipment support for the global shipping industry’s decarbonization transformation.
In addition to its environmentally friendly features, the vessel also excels in seaworthiness and operational flexibility. Through optimized hull lines and precise matching of the propulsion system, the ship achieves an optimal balance between speed, fuel consumption and loading flexibility. This allows it to confidently navigate the complex sea conditions of major international shipping routes worldwide, effectively improving cargo transport efficiency and reducing operating costs, giving it a strong competitive edge in the market.
The construction of this type of vessel for a Danish shipowner is a significant achievement for Sanfu Shipbuilding, demonstrating its commitment to the international market and continuous optimization of its medium-sized container ship product portfolio, further expanding the company’s presence in niche markets.
