Hengli Heavy Industries Signs 4+2 Capesize Bulk Carrier Order with Greece’s MARAN DRY

Hengli Group’s official WeChat account announced that on February 11, Hengli Heavy Industries officially signed a shipbuilding contract with MARAN DRY, a dry bulk shipping company under the Greek Angelicoussis Shipping Group, to build 4+2 180,000 DWT Capesize bulk carriers. This is MARAN DRY’s first bulk carrier order in many years since 2021, marking a new breakthrough in Hengli Heavy Industries’ brand recognition among top international shipping companies.

The 180,000 DWT Capesize bulk carrier signed this time is Hengli Heavy Industries’ star product. This cooperation is an important milestone in the development of Hengli Heavy Industries, making it the preferred partner for the Angelicoussis family to return to the new bulk carrier market. This is not only an affirmation of Hengli Heavy Industries’ technical strength and project execution capabilities, but also a powerful testament to the competitiveness of China’s shipbuilding industry in the global high-end bulk carrier market.

MARAN DRY is a leading global dry bulk shipping company, currently operating approximately 40 bulk carriers. It boasts one of the world’s largest privately owned Capesize fleets, and its fleet size and operational standards represent the highest level in the industry. This signing is a milestone. MARAN DRY’s decision to return to the newbuild market at this time, and to partner with Hengli Heavy Industries for its first order in many years, demonstrates its full trust in Hengli Heavy Industries’ construction quality, delivery capabilities, and quality control system. It signifies that Chinese private shipyards have the strength to compete with world-class shipyards.

This strategic partnership with MARAN DRY marks another significant milestone for Hengli Heavy Industries in its commitment to the international high-end shipbuilding market. Looking ahead, the global dry bulk shipping market is undergoing structural adjustments and a new fleet renewal cycle. Hengli Heavy Industries will continue to leverage its group’s supply chain synergies and rapid response capabilities, deepen its strategic cooperation with leading international shipowners, and continuously enhance its competitiveness in high-end niche markets such as large bulk carriers, tankers, container ships and gas carriers.

Hengli Heavy Industries looks forward to using this cooperation as a new starting point to join hands with MARAN DRY and more top global shipowners to seize market opportunities and create a new era of mutually beneficial and high-quality development.
