On February 4, Shanghai Zhonggu Logistics Co., Ltd. (Zhonggu Logistics) issued an announcement regarding the investment and construction of two 6,000 TEU container vessels.

The announcement disclosed that Zhonggu Logistics or its subsidiaries intend to sign a contract with China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu) for the construction of two 6,000 TEU container vessels. The total contract value shall not exceed RMB 1.16 billion or its equivalent in US dollars (excluding taxes).
Zhonggu Logistics stated that this investment aims to build a highly economical and competitive container shipping fleet to enhance the company’s competitiveness.
Notably, according to a previous announcement, Zhonggu Logistics has signed a construction contract with Hengli Shipbuilding on January 29 for 4+2 6,000 TEU container vessels. The total contract value does not exceed RMB 3.48 billion (excluding tax, approximately US$501 million), with the new vessels scheduled for delivery in phases by 2028.
