China Merchants Industry Weihai Shipyard Breaks Ground on Two Jack-up Platforms for CTW Offshore Engineering

On January 16, China Merchants Industry Weihai Shipyard broke ground on two jack-up self-elevating work platforms being constructed for CTW (Tianjin) Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. . Huang Xuefei, Chairman of CTW (Tianjin) Offshore Engineering, General Manager Jia Guoxing, and company executives attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

This project involves a steel, four-legged, jack-up self-elevating offshore platform. The hull is 72.3 meters long, 41.2 meters wide, and 6.1 meters deep, with a design draft of 3.4 meters, enabling operations in water depths up to 70 meters. A living quarters are located at the bow, providing comfortable accommodation for 150 personnel. Upon delivery, it will be used for oil and gas field services in Qatari waters.

CTW (Tianjin) Offshore Engineering has been deeply involved in the niche market of jack-up self-elevating work platforms for many years and has a long-standing cooperative relationship with Weihai Shipyard, a manufacturer of China Merchants Industry.

In July 2025, the sixth 246FT and the seventh 350FT self-elevating and self-propelled work platform, “ZAMIL-L.B.10” and “ZAMIL-L.B.11”, built by China Merchants Industry Weihai Shipyard for CTW (Tianjin) Offshore Engineering, were delivered ahead of schedule and received praise from the shipowner.
