GSI Hands Over LNG-Powered PCTC and Methanol-Fueled Tanker

Recently, China State Shipbuilding Corporation Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) successfully signed and delivered the No. 3 LNG dual-fuel pure car and track carrier (PCTC) for South Korea’s HMM Shipping and the No. 2 50,000 DWT methanol dual-fuel chemical/product oil tanker for Vietnam’s ASP Shipping.

On January 15, GSI signed and delivered the No. 3 8,600 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC built for South Korean shipping company Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) nearly six months ahead of the contract delivery date.

This PCTC features a dual-fuel LNG/fuel oil propulsion system design, embodying core principles of green, intelligent, and efficient engineering. The onboard intelligent energy management system enables low-carbon, digitalized operations throughout the vessel’s entire lifecycle, representing GSI’s innovative response to the global shipping industry’s green transition and its commitment to advancing the “dual carbon” goals.

Recently, GSI successfully signed and delivered the No. 2 50,000 DWT methanol dual-fuel chemical/product oil tanker for Vietnam’s ASP Shipping.

This type of vessel is the 15th generation MR product independently developed by GSI. It is equipped with a shaft generator and dual-fuel methanol propulsion system. It meets IMO Tier III emission standards and achieves Phase 3 compliance for the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI).
