On January 7th, the container ship “Hongtai 658” (unrestricted navigation area), built by Zhejiang Donghong Shipbuilding, successfully completed its outfitting and began sea trials. With a deadweight of 63,519 tons, the vessel sets a new deadweight record for container ships built in the Xiangshan region.

It is reported that the sea trial team will conduct comprehensive, high-intensity testing and validation of the ship’s navigational performance, propulsion systems, navigation and communication equipment, maneuverability, automation levels, and various safety and environmental protection devices.
This is not only a comprehensive “health check” of the ship’s design and construction quality, but also a practical test of Zhejiang Donghong Shipbuilding’s capabilities in process integration and complex system control in the field of modern container ship manufacturing.
The successful construction and sea trial of the “Hongtai 658” ship not only set a new record for container ship size built in Xiangshan, but also signifies that Zhejiang Donghong Shipbuilding has systematically mastered the core technologies for designing, constructing, and delivering medium-sized container ships. This achievement demonstrates the company’s capability to advance into the market for high-end, intelligent and green ship designs.
