Hudong-Zhonghua Commences Construction of 13,600 TEU Eco-Friendly Container Ship for Seaspan

On December 26, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding kicked off construction of a 13,600 TEU container ship (Hull No.: H1946A) for Seaspan.

The 13,600 TEU container ship is a large, eco-friendly vessel independently developed by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding. Incorporating the latest design concepts, it meets stringent international environmental regulations, ensuring low energy consumption, high speed, and green performance while fulfilling the shipowner’s customized requirements.

This project includes a total of six ships, with the fourth vessel currently under construction. Throughout the construction of this series of ships, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding has adhered to a lean management approach, establishing a dedicated construction team and steadily advancing the lean management model. They have continuously optimized core processes such as cutting and welding, deepened the application of efficient welding technologies and lean tools, and planned the entire process from steel plate pretreatment to block handover in advance. This has further improved the construction system and processes for this type of ship, achieving simultaneous improvements in construction efficiency and product quality.
