Laskaridis Shipping Expands Fleet with Series of MR2 Tankers from Chinese Shipyard

Greek shipowner Laskaridis Shipping, led by Panos Laskaridis, has added an MR2 product tanker to its order book.

According to a rare disclosure of new vessel progress by Laskaridis via social media, three 50,000 DWT MR2 product/chemical tankers are currently under construction at China’s Zhoushan Changhong International.

According to Zhoushan Changhong International, the 2nd vessel of this series has been launched on September 18th, with an overall length of about 182.95 meters, a beam of 32.2 meters and a depth of 19.10 meters.

Last year, it was reported that Laskaridis acquired two 50,000 DWT MR2 product/chemical tankers, originally ordered by Pro Tanker Investment, a subsidiary of Zhoushan Changhong, through a resale transaction. They have now been renamed “Saronic Wind” and “Parian Trader”.

Ship brokers revealed that shortly after the completion of the first transaction, Laskaridis has most likely acquired the sister vessel of the first two vessels, namely the third 50,000 DWT MR2 product/chemical tanker.
