Hengli Heavy Industries Lands Greek Orders for Capesize, Kamsarmax Bulk Carriers

Since September, Hengli Heavy Industries has secured multiple shipbuilding contracts in the newbuilding market, accumulating orders for over 40 vessels!

Greece’s Seaenergy Maritime has ordered one 181,000 DWT Capesize bulk carrier from Hengli Heavy Industries, scheduled for delivery by the end of 2027, according to shipbroker Bancosta. Additionally, Greece’s Eastern Med. Maritime has placed an order for four 80,000 DWT Kamsarmax bulk carriers with Hengli Heavy Industries with all deliveries expected by the end of 2027.. The cost of both orders remains undisclosed.

The 181,000 DWT Capesize bulk carrier serves as the core vessel type in the international dry bulk shipping market, offering significant economies of scale, robust endurance, and superior economic efficiency. The design deeply integrates route versatility with cargo adaptability, enabling efficient compatibility with loading/unloading facilities at major global bulk commodity ports. It fully meets transoceanic trunk line transportation demands for bulk commodities like iron ore and coal, serving as a benchmark vessel aligning with the global trend toward larger and greener bulk carrier fleets.

The Kamsarmax bulk carrier is one of Hengli Heavy Industries’ primary vessel types, distinguished by its “green, eco-friendly, energy-efficient, and safe” characteristics. As a mainstream bulk carrier in the ocean shipping market, it meets the most stringent emission requirements set by the International Maritime Organization, with all performance metrics reaching internationally advanced levels.

Seanergy Maritime is a Greek bulk carrier owner listed on the U.S. capital markets. It operates a fleet of 20 bulk carriers with an average fleet age of approximately 14.3 years and a total deadweight tonnage of about 3,633,861 tons.

Eastern Med. Maritime is a Greek ship management company currently managing a mixed fleet of 78 vessels with a total deadweight capacity exceeding 7.2 million tons.

Hengli Heavy Industries last announced new ship orders two days ago, securing six 82,000 DWT bulk carriers from Greek shipowner EFNAV. According to incomplete statistics, since September, Hengli Heavy Industries has successively announced new ship orders across major mainstream vessel types, including the aforementioned two types totaling five vessels. In total, it has secured 42+4 vessels, comprising 13 VLCCs, 4+4 container ships, and 25 bulk carriers.

Data shows that Hengli Heavy Industries currently ranks among the top global manufacturers of large ocean-going vessels in terms of both its existing order backlog and newly secured orders. The company has commenced construction on over 70 vessels, with production schedules already booked through 2029. According to Clarkson data, Hengli Heavy Industries entered the global top ten shipyards in 2024, ranking fourth on the list with 56 vessels and 2.68 million CGT in new orders.
