On October 21, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSSC) Huangpu Wenchong Shipbuilding, together with China Shipbuilding Trading Co. Ltd (CSTC), signed a contract with Ningbo Ocean Shipping for the construction of four 2,700 TEU container ships.
As Zhejiang Province’s largest container liner shipping enterprise, Ningbo Ocean Shipping has established a strong presence in international liner shipping, coastal routes, and Changjiang River services, positioning itself as a significant force in the global liner market.
This 2,700 TEU container ship measures 185.99 meters in overall length, 35.20 meters in beam, and 17.20 meters in depth, with a design draft of 9.50 meters. It serves as Ningbo Ocean Shipping’s flagship ship type, custom-designed to meet the operational demands of short-sea routes to Southeast Asia and other regions.
This vessel is equipped with green and intelligent systems including SCR denitrification systems, high-voltage shore power systems, and smart ship systems, demonstrating outstanding performance in energy conservation, consumption reduction, and intelligent management. According to the construction schedule, the new ships will be completed in phases starting at the end of 2027 and deployed on near-ocean routes.
Ningbo Ocean Shipping stated that the deployment of the 2,700 TEU container ships will further optimize the company’s fleet structure, enhance overall competitiveness in the short-sea shipping market, and inject new momentum into accelerating the company’s goal of becoming “Asia’s leading regional logistics service provider”.
Huangpu Wenchong stated that since their first collaboration in 2014, both parties have advanced hand in hand, forging a deep cooperative friendship. Ningbo Ocean Shipping’s renewed selection of Huangpu Wenchong for the signing of four 2,700 TEU container ships not only fully affirms Huangpu Wenchong’s technical capabilities and service standards but also opens a new chapter in their mutually beneficial partnership.
