China Merchants Jinling Shipyard Breaks Ground on a 7,800 CEU Methanol Dual-Fuel Car Carrier, Paving Way for Green Shipping

On October 17, China Merchants Jinling Shipyard commenced construction of the first 7,800 CEU methanol dual-fuel car carrier for China Merchants Shenzhen Roro Shipping Company at its Yizheng facility. Liu Rusong, General Manager of China Merchants Shenzhen Roro Shipping Company, and Jiang Jiazhong, General Manager of China Merchants Jinling Shipyard, attended the event and delivered remarks.

Jiang Jiazhong noted that the commencement of this vessel marks a milestone in deepening synergies between China Merchants Industry and China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES), as well as a key step in advancing green shipping initiatives. He emphasized that Jinling Shipyard will strictly adhere to safety, quality, and schedule standards to build a benchmark green and intelligent vessel. Moving forward, the company will collaborate with partners to continuously develop green and intelligent technologies, provide end-to-end solutions, drive the high-end and low-carbon transformation of vessels, and establish a globally leading brand.

Liu Rusong emphasized that the construction of this vessel represents a significant initiative by CMES to ensure the stability of the automotive export supply chain and support the global expansion of Chinese brands. He expressed confidence that China Merchants Jinling Shipyard will rise to the challenge, injecting momentum into coordinated development and green transformation. In the future, China Merchants Shenzhen Roro Shipping will improve its shipping capacity and service quality, and work with customers to build a “green transportation + smart logistics” system to help “Made in China” go global.
