CIMC SOE Cuts Steel for Avenir LNG’s 20,000 cbm LNG Bunkering Vessel

On October 17, Nantong CIMC Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering Co., Ltd (CIMC SOE) held a steel cutting ceremony for a 20,000 cbm LNG bunkering vessel (Hull No.: S1124) for Avenir LNG Limited (Avenir LNG) at the West Zone Manufacturing Division workshop. This milestone signifies steady progress in the series vessel project and the continuous deepening of cooperation between the two parties.

The 20,000 cbm LNG bunkering vessel, one of the primary vessel types globally for LNG transportation and bunkering, measures 160 meters in length overall and 25 meters in beam, with a design speed of 15.5 knots.

It integrates advanced environmental protection technologies and design concepts. The vessel is equipped with a WINGD dual-fuel main engine featuring iCER technology and can be retrofitted with a high-voltage shore power system. This significantly reduces pollution and greenhouse gas emissions throughout the ship’s lifecycle, effectively addressing the increasingly stringent environmental demands within the global shipping industry.

Following the commencement of construction on vessel S1123 in July this year, the successful launch of this sister vessel not only demonstrates CIMC SOE’s construction capabilities in the core market of small-to-medium-sized liquefied gas carriers but also further solidifies its collaborative relationship with international clients in the clean energy equipment sector.
