On October 16, Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI), a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), in collaboration with China Shipbuilding Trading Co., Ltd. (CSTC), held a naming ceremony for the second 8,600 CEU LNG dual-fuel PCTC built for South Korea’s Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM). The new vessel has been named the “GLOVIS TOPAZ”.
“GLOVIS TOPAZ” is 200 meters in length, 38 meters in width, with a designed draft of 9.2 meters and a designed speed of 19 knots. It adopts an LNG/fuel dual-fuel propulsion system, meets the International Maritime Organization’s Tier III emission standards, and is green, environmentally friendly, energy-efficient, safe and reliable.
This vessel is equipped with an advanced intelligent ship system that enables smart management of navigation, engine room, cargo, and other systems, effectively enhancing operational efficiency and safety. Additionally, the vessel incorporates multiple energy-saving and emission-reduction technologies, such as optimized hull form, propeller fairings, and main engine exhaust heat recovery systems, further reducing energy consumption and emissions.
Upon delivery, the vessel will be operated by GLOVIS Logistics. The shipowner, HMM, is South Korea’s largest shipping company, while GLOVIS Logistics is the nation’s leading logistics and transportation enterprise. This strategic collaboration between the two industry giants in placing a shipbuilding order with GSI fully demonstrates the company’s formidable market competitiveness and shipbuilding capabilities.
