Newly Established Duokai Engine (Jingjiang) Secures Major Order for Chemical Tanker and Container Ship Propulsion

On September 18, Duokai Engine (Jingjiang) Co., Ltd. signed a contract for the production of 11 marine main engines, with a total contract value of RMB 320 million. The engines are primarily intended for chemical tankers and container ships, with all units scheduled for delivery by 2027.

It is understood that Duokai Engine (Jingjiang) was established in February 2024 with a registered capital of RMB 50 million. Duokai Engine (Jingjiang) has signed a production licensing agreement with Germany’s Everllence (formerly MAN) for low-speed marine diesel engines. To date, it has successfully delivered seven main engines and holds a total order backlog exceeding 100 units.

In June this year, Duokai Engine (Jingjiang) held the delivery ceremony for its first Everllence marine low-speed main engine. The delivered engine is the Everllence B&W 6S40ME-C9.5-HPSCR low-speed marine diesel engine, with a rated output of 6,810 kilowatts and a rotational speed of approximately 108 revolutions per minute. It will be installed on a 21,000-ton chemical tanker ordered by Hainan Linghang International Shipping.

Duokai Engine (Jingjiang), formerly known as Jiangsu Antai Power Machinery Co., Ltd., was the first private enterprise in China to collaborate with Germany’s MAN Group in producing marine low-speed diesel engines. In August 2007, Antai Power obtained MAN’s production license for low-speed diesel engines.

Duokai Engine (Jingjiang), formerly Jiangsu Antai Power Machinery Co., Ltd., is the first private enterprise in China to collaborate with Germany’s MAN to produce low-speed marine diesel engines. In August 2007, Jiangsu Antai Power Machinery obtained MAN’s low-speed diesel engine production license.

Due to various factors, Antai Power Machinery fell into a debt crisis in 2015 and ceased production in 2017. The local government implemented support policies for Antai Power Machinery’s assets, encouraging some of the company’s key technical and operational personnel to establish Jiangsu Duokai Power Machinery Co., Ltd. to produce diesel engine parts and components. The company also collaborated with the Guangzhou diesel engine factory to produce Mitsubishi engines. In early 2024, Duokai Power Machinery established a holding subsidiary, Duokai Engine (Jingjiang), to enter the manufacturing of complete low-speed marine engines.

It is reported that Duokai Engine (Jingjiang) will also launch clean energy engines such as LNG, methanol, and ammonia in 2028.
