Wison New Energies and Turkish Petroleum Corporation Officially Signed FPU EPCIC Contract

Wison New Energies, leading provider of clean energy technology service and solutions, officially signed the EPCIC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction, Installation, and Commissioning) contract with Turkish Petroleum Corporation (“TPAO”) for the Floating Production Unit (FPU) project in Phase 3 of the Sakarya Gas Field. This collaboration marks a significant milestone in the development of the Sakarya field and will further enhance Türkiye’s natural gas production capacity and optimize its energy mix.

Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO) is the national oil company of the Republic of Turkey, headquartered in Ankara, and was founded in 1954 with the responsibility of being involved in hydrocarbon exploration, drilling, production and marketing activities. It now has four compounds in Türkiye which are located in Batman, Adiyaman, Şırnak and Thrace, with approximately 3,500 staff and foreign branches in seven countries. With 70 years’ experience in the hydrocarbon field, TPAO has been continuing to develop business opportunities in hydrocarbon-rich regions such as the Caspian Region, Middle East, Africa and Latin America.

Located approximately 170 kilometers offshore in the Black Sea at a water depth of 2,150 meters, the Sakarya Gas Field was discovered in August 2020 with proven gas reserves of 405 billion cubic meters (BCM). As Türkiye’s largest-ever natural gas discovery, the field is being developed in three phases by Turkish Petroleum Corporation (TPAO). As a centerpiece of Phase 3, the FPU has to meet the Black Sea’s challenging conditions, including deepwater operations at 2,150 meters and navigating the Bosphorus Strait’s 56-meter air draft restriction. The FPU is designed with a gas export rate of 25 million SCMD (883 MMSCFD), a produced water treatment capacity of 1,350 sm³/d, and a MEG regeneration and injection capacity of 2,503 m³/d for hydrate inhibition, with a minimum 30-year design life.

As a flagship project in Türkiye’s national energy strategy, the Phase 3 development of the Sakarya Gas Field will significantly enhance the country’s energy self-sufficiency, reduce its dependence on natural gas imports, and boost domestic gas supply capacity. This critical initiative will play a pivotal role in ensuring Turkey’s energy security while consolidating its position in the regional energy market.

Mr. Liu Hongjun, Chairman of Wison New Energies, stated, “This collaboration represents a major milestone in Wison’s internationalization strategy and another significant breakthrough in our deepwater engineering capabilities. We look forward to supporting the goals of the Sakarya Gas Field through innovative floating solutions and efficient resource integration, contributing to the advancement of Turkey’s energy sector.”

As a leading provider of clean energy technology and solutions, Wison New Energies will leverage its accumulated expertise and extensive experience in offshore engineering to ensure high-quality project execution. This cooperation also serves as a platform to deepen the strategic partnership between the two parties and open a new chapter of mutual benefit.
