Fujian Shipbuilding Delivers Eco-Friendly Tanker Three Months Early, Strengthens Partnership with Seacon Shipping Group

On August 25, Fujian Southeast Shipyard (Southeast Shipyard), a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding Industry Group Corporation (Fujian Shipbuilding), successfully delivered an 18,500 DWT oil tanker (DN517-2) built for Seacon Shipping Group, three months ahead of schedule.

The vessel has a total length of 149.8 meters and a beam of 22.8 meters. It is primarily designed to transport crude oil, petroleum products with a density below 1.54 tons per cubic meter, chemicals (Class II and III), liquid chemicals, and petroleum products listed in MARPOL Annex I and the IBC Code, including IMO Class II and III petroleum products.

The vessel’s main engine and generator sets are equipped with Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) systems for nitrogen oxide (NOₓ) emission control, which comply with the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Tier III requirements and the ice class reinforcement standard of ICE CLASS 1C.

Its propulsion system adopts a low-speed two-stroke diesel engine, an adjustable pitch propeller, a front energy-saving guide wheel device, and a flap rudder device with a rudder ball. It is also equipped with a variable frequency shaft generator set, which can realize the function of operating without a generator set during navigation, thereby reducing the vessel’s energy consumption while improving its maneuverability.

As one of the top ten ship management companies in the world, Seacon Shipping Group has continued to deepen its cooperation with Fujian Shipbuilding. From the initial order of six 18,500 DWT oil tankers to the subsequent addition of four more, this demonstrates Seacon Shipping Group’s high recognition of Fujian Shipbuilding’s construction quality and management capabilities.

To date, Fujian Shipbuilding has successfully delivered ten 18,500 DWT oil and chemical tankers, achieving several deliveries ahead of schedule and setting a new record for the construction and delivery of this vessel, earning widespread market acclaim. The delivered vessels demonstrate excellent performance across the board, with key indicators such as cargo hold coatings, equipment stability, and maneuverability exceeding contract and industry standards, and generating positive operational feedback.

On August 22 and 25, two 76-meter large tuna seine vessels (MW821-1/2) built by Mawei Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of Fujian Shipbuilding, were successfully launched.

The vessel has a total length of 76.73 meters, a beam of 13.50 meters, a draft of 7.70 meters and a fish hold volume of approximately 1,880 cubic meters. It is classified by the China Classification Society, has a maximum speed of 15.6 knots, a range of 10,000 nautical miles and can accommodate up to 38 crew members and fishing staff for living and working on board.

It is worth mentioning that this vessel is equipped with two sets of S-band seabird radars and multiple sets of color fish finders. It can use the seabird radar to conduct a large-scale search for preliminary positioning, and then use the fish finder to accurately locate the fish. Its fish search and positioning capabilities are higher than those of traditional tuna seine vessels.
