Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding Cuts Steel For Dual 13,000 DWT Stainless Steel Chemical Tankers

Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding successively held the steelcutting ceremonies for two 13,000 DWT stainless steel chemical/product oil tankers (TKA2501 and TKA2502) built for Xingtong Shipping and Shanghai Xingtong Wanbang Shipping on August 15.

These two types of four stainless steel chemical tankers mark the first cooperation between Kouan Shipbuilding and Xingtong as well as Xingtong Wanbang, and their construction was launched simultaneously within six months after the contract was signed.

Two types of stainless steel chemical tankers have been classified by CCS and BV, respectively, and are seaworthy for unlimited navigation areas. The vessel has a length of 132 meters, a beam of 21.5 meters, a draft of 11.6 meters and a design speed of 13.5 knots. The vessel has a deadweight of 13,800 tons, featuring a single-tank, single-pump, single-line configuration, with a total tank capacity of approximately 15,300 cubic meters, capable of carrying IMO-regulated Class II and III chemicals. The main and auxiliary engines meet Tier III emission standards, and the vessel includes a cybersecurity classification notation, making it the latest high-end stainless steel chemical tanker. Delivery is expected in September 2026.

This commencement marks the first shipbuilding collaboration between Xingtong Shipping, Xingtong Wanbang, and Taizhou Kouan Shipbuilding. To implement the principles of green, low-carbon, and intelligent shipping, the new vessel represents a comprehensive upgrade of the existing model. Through optimized hull structure, intelligent control systems, and the integration of highly efficient and energy-saving propulsion systems and advanced environmental technologies, it further adapts to the diverse demands of the international market.
