On July 16, 2025, Zhenjiang Shipyard delivered the second specialized offshore wind turbine installation and transport vessel—”ROTRA HORIZON” to Dutch shipowner Amasus Shipping, and the vessel departed smoothly.
The vessel is in RINA class, with a length of 167.6 meters, a width of 26 meters, and a deck area of approximately 3500 square meters. With its exceptional loading capacity, superior energy-saving performance, and eco-friendly features, this vessel will provide critical equipment support for the global offshore wind industry, advancing the development of green energy.
The vessel is the first to be equipped with a 1,500-ton heavy-load stern door and positioning pile system, and is equipped with three Liebherr cranes, which can efficiently load and unload giant wind power components at restricted docks. Its unique gantry multi-layer loading technology enables flexible loading of multiple specifications of goods in a single voyage, greatly improving transportation efficiency.
Additionally, the vessel combines a hydrodynamically optimized hull form with a Wärtsilä intelligent propulsion system, complemented by freshwater heat recovery technology for the main engine, achieving a breakthrough 15% reduction in both energy consumption and carbon emissions. This makes it the first vessel to meet the IMO Tier 3 environmental standards.
Simultaneously, it further demonstrates Zhenjiang Shipyard’s expertise in high-end shipbuilding and cements its leading position in the international offshore engineering vessel market.
