Zhijiang Hongju Green Intelligent Technology Launches Green Shipbuilding Project to Boost New Energy Vessel Production

On June 20, Zhijiang Hongju Green Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. filed an application for the green ship intelligent manufacturing project and plans to start construction within the year.

The project will build a new block manufacturing workshop, PSPC coating workshop, CNC workshop, and supporting infrastructure facilities such as electrical engineering, water supply and drainage engineering, greening engineering, and roads. A series of related facilities and equipment will be purchased.

According to public information, Zhijiang Hongju Green Intelligent Technology was established in May 2025, and its business license projects include shipbuilding, ship repair, ship dismantling, ship design and port operations.

In April this year, Wang Bin, the legal representative of the company, spoke on behalf of Hongju Shipbuilding, “The company plans to build a 40 mu green and intelligent ship workshop in Yichang Shipbuilding Industrial Park in the near future. The construction period is 6 months and it is planned to be put into production in October, 2025. After the completion of the green and intelligent ship manufacturing workshop, the production capacity will increase accordingly, and the completion volume of ship orders is expected to increase by 30%, from 12 ships per year to between 14 and 16 ships.”

At present, Yichang Shipbuilding Industrial Park has gathered 10 shipbuilding companies and is the largest new energy shipbuilding base in Hubei Province. The park undertook 114 shipbuilding orders in 2025, of which 100 are for new energy ships, covering a variety of clean energy ship types such as LNG, methanol, and pure electric, accounting for 87% of all ship orders, an increase of 37% year-on-year. Major shipbuilding companies have also increased their investment at the same time, striving to move forward steadily in the wave of new energy shipbuilding.
