For the first time since its establishment, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries allowed its employees to wear comfortable clothing such as shorts and sandals to and from get off work.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries recently announced that it will trial a “Cool-Biz” policy from June 16 to September 12, allowing employees to wear comfortable clothing such as shorts and sandals during commuting hours.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries announced that during the trial period of the “Cool-Biz” system, employees in technical and administrative positions, as well as employees of companies collaborating with the company, may wear shorts and sandals (with fixed heels) to and from work.
However, this policy only applies to commuting to and from work. Employees are still required to change into work clothes and safety shoes upon arrival at the company. In addition, sportswear, leggings, sleeveless shirts, slippers, high heels, and other clothing items are not recommended.
HD Hyundai Heavy Industries plans to evaluate factors such as employee satisfaction and safety during a trial period this year to decide whether to formally implement the policy from next year.
It is worth noting that allowing employees to wear comfortable clothing such as shorts and sandals to and from get off work is the first time that HD Hyundai Heavy Industries has proposed this since its establishment in 1972.
Previously, HD Hyundai Heavy Industries had stricter regulations on work and commuting dress than other industries due to the on-site characteristics of building large ships and operating heavy equipment.
However, as the younger generation joins the workforce, the company is gradually adjusting its regulations to meet their needs, improve the working environment, build a flexible organizational culture and cope with factors such as summer heat.
