Second Domestic Large Cruise Ship H1509 Completes Key Boiler Ignition, Paving Way for Main Generator Commissioning

On June 18th, the boiler system of the second domestically built large cruise ship H1509 constructed by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding successfully ignited for the first time. This marks the completion of key debugging for the core equipment of the H1509 ship’s power system, with the joint debugging status of various subsystems such as fuel, air, water, switchboards, and central control monitoring further improving. It lays a solid foundation for the subsequent main generator commissioning.

As one of the main power systems of large cruise ships, the boiler system is the heat source and power source center of the entire ship. The steam it produces is not only used to ensure the operation and maintenance of power equipment such as lubricating oil heating and cylinder jacket water heating, but is also the key to the operation of many auxiliary systems such as the ship’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), hot water supply, kitchen equipment, etc. Whether it can operate stably is directly related to the comfort of the living environment on board, the integrity of equipment functions and the safety of the system.

To ensure smooth ignition, the H1509 commissioning team pre-identified various potential factors that may affect the success of ignition, including equipment status, medium conditions, control system logic, personnel operation and environmental safety, etc., to ensure the safety and reliability of the ignition process. As the operation instructions were issued, the boiler ignited successfully at one time, the flame burned stably, and all operating parameters met the design requirements.

At present, the commissioning of H1509 is progressing efficiently as planned. After the successful ignition of the boiler, the commissioning team will focus on the main generator’s motor and make every effort to sprint the pre-commissioning and inspection of the main generator, and strive to ensure that the cruise ship’s “heart” is fully beating on schedule.
