On May 26, Seacon Shipping Group Holdings Limited (hereinafter referred to as “Seacon Shipping”) released an announcement on “Acquisition of Vessel in Discloseable Transaction”.
The announcement disclosed that on May 26, 2025, Seacon Shipping, an indirect wholly-owned subsidiary of Seacon Shipping Group, entered into a contract with Imabari Shipbuilding for the construction of one 40,300 dwt bulk carrier. The new vessel will cost US$35 million and is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2028.
Seacon Shipping commented that the vessel on order is fuel efficient and meets the requirements of the shipping industry’s recently announced environmental regulations and current specifications.
This is the second bulk carrier ordered by Seacon Shipping this year. in April, Seacon Shipping announced that it had ordered one 63,300 dwt bulk carrier from Zhoushan Tsuneishi Shipbuilding at a total cost of US$38.34 million. the new vessel is scheduled for delivery on April 30, 2027.
