On May 19, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding (Group) Co., Ltd, a subsidiary of China State Shipbuilding Corporation (CSSC), completed seven key milestones covering the whole business chain, including the naming of one vessel, the signing of letters of intent for two new vessels, the launching of two vessels, the launching of one vessel and the reaking ground of one vessel.
On that day, the 174,000 m³ LNG carrier “ocean inspiration” was officially named in Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding’s new factory. “Ocean Inspiration” is the first vessel of 174,000 m3 LNG carrier for COSCO Shipping Sinochem project, with an overall length of 295 meters, a beam of 45 meters, a depth of 26.25 meters and a rated speed of 19.5 knots.
Classified by American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and China Classification Society (CCS), the vessel is equipped with the world’s best cargo containment system and dual-fuel low-speed engine propulsion system. With the new cryogenic device, the vessel can accurately achieve the dynamic balance of speed and evaporative gas, and can freely switch between long and short route operation modes. Its navigation adaptability covers more than 90% of the world’s LNG trade routes.
The vessel realizes the localization and application of many equipments and materials, which further enhances the localization rate of China’s LNG carriers and accumulates valuable experience for the subsequent related projects.
On the same day, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding also achieved the launching of the 174,000 m³ LNG carriers “H1801A” and “H884A”, the laying keel of the “H885A”, and the start of construction of the 13,000TEU dual-fuel powered container ship “H933A”.
This series of milestone achievements marks that the Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding’s multi-dimensional collaborative combat capabilities in market expansion, technology research and development, lean management, intelligent manufacturing, etc.
