On May 16, Dutch short sea shipping operator Longship announced on its official website that it has confirmed an order for four PMAX ECO TRADER vessels (6,000 DWT general cargo vessels) from the Dutch shipyard Waterhuizen, increasing the number of similar vessels in the shipyard to eight. Deliveries are expected to begin in early 2026.
In September 2024, Longship placed its first order for 4+4 6,000 dwt general cargo vessels from Waterhuizen. The series will be completed by GS Projects in cooperation with Ship and Steelbuilding (SaS) at the Waterhuizen in the Netherlands.
The PMAX ECO TRADER vessels are specifically designed to meet Longship’s requirements for custom shipping solutions. GS Projects has commissioned steering systems supplier Damen Marine Components (DMC) to provide the steering, control and propulsion equipment for the first four PMAX ECO TRADER vessels, which will be equipped with DMC’s ‘plug and play’ piston RAM type steering systems, Barke rudders and Optima nozzles.
Longship was established in 2009 and is known to have a presence in the European short sea shipping trade. The company operates about 20 vessels of 3,700 dwt to 10,000 dwt.
