Venture Marine Services Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Wah Kwong Maritime Transport (Wah Kwong), has successfully won the new ship supervision business of AW Shipping, involving 7 99,000 m³ very large ethane carriers (VLECs) and 4 93,000 m³very large liquid ammonia carriers (VLACs) built at Jiangnan Shipyard.
Among them, the 93,000 m³VLAC is a high-quality derivative ship type of the fourth-generation VLGC independently developed and designed by Jiangnan Shipyard. This type of ship is currently the largest liquid ammonia carrier in the world, with a total length of 230.0 meters, a beam of 36.6 meters, a depth of 22.5 meters, and a structural draft of 13.0 meters. At the same time, it is equipped with an LPG dual-fuel main engine and ammonia fuel is reserved.
On March 25, 2025, the first VLAC (No. H2749) of the project series was officially kicked off at the yard. Representatives of the shipowner, Venture Marine Services Newbuilding Supervision Team and Classification Society participated in the witnessing. The vessel is expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2026.
The B-tank (BrillianceE®) cryogenic cargo enclosure system, which is the core of this type of VLEC, is also independently developed by Jiangnan Shipyard. This type of vessel is suitable for transporting various liquefied gases such as ethane, ethylene and LPG.
In the first year of its establishment, Venture Marine Services is said to have reached 187 newbuilding supervision orders. The order book of 51 vessels under construction covers a wide range of vessel types, including high-end gas carriers LNG carriers, VLEC, VLAC, super-large VLCC, LR2, electric ferries, and various types of bulk carriers.
AW Shipping is a joint venture between ADNOC Logistics and Services (ADNOC L&S), the logistics and services arm of Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC), and Wanhua Chemical Group.
