On October 15, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding kicked off construction of a 9,000-TEU container ship for PIL. This vessel is the sixth in the project, and the large-scale construction of this series is continuing to accelerate.

This vessel was independently developed by Hudong-Zhonghua and is a “custom-designed” green container ship, tailored to the specific operational requirements of Pacific International Lines (PIL). It measures 274 meters in length, 45.6 meters in breadth, and 24.8 meters in depth, with a maximum design capacity of 9,040 TEU, including space for up to 1,308 refrigerated containers.
This vessel type combines the dual advantages of low energy consumption and high cargo capacity, meeting the demands of large-scale operations on global deep-sea routes. Relying on mature technical specifications and a lean construction system, the vessel will continue to utilize a proven, standardized construction plan, efficiently coordinate work sequences, and strictly control quality, precision, and milestone schedules.
Currently, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding is implementing smart manufacturing and, in accordance with lean management requirements, continues to produce high-quality intermediate section components, thereby laying a solid foundation for the subsequent assembly and integration of the sections and ensuring the high-quality progress of shipbuilding.
