China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu) Delivers First 7,800 CEU Methanol-Dual-Fuel Ro-Ro Vessel for CMES

On October 10, China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Jiangsu) held a naming ceremony for the first 7,800 CEU methanol-dual-fuel ro-ro vessel it built for China Merchants Energy Shipping (CMES). The new vessel, named “CM GUANGZHOU,” was delivered and set sail the same day.

The “CM GUANGZHOU” has a total length of 199.9 meters, a beam of 37.7 meters, a design speed of 19 knots, and a design capacity of 7,800 standard vehicle spaces. The vessel is equipped with 13 vehicle decks, offering a total loading area of 67,076 square meters, and is capable of operating in all navigation zones.

The vessel’s propulsion system allows for flexible switching between conventional fuel and methanol, meeting the International Maritime Organization’s Tier III emissions standards—the most stringent to date—and reducing greenhouse gas emissions by more than 70% when using green methanol; equipped with a high-voltage shore power system, it achieves “zero-carbon” emissions during docking operations.

The vessel was designed by Deltamarin and classed by Lloyd’s Register (LR), making it a PCTC that combines high efficiency, intelligence and environmental performance.

CMES stated that this vessel is the first in the 7,800 CEU Ro-Ro series; it represents a significant achievement in the parties’ commitment to green shipping and deepened internal synergy, as well as a vivid demonstration of the Group’s strategy of “in-house construction for in-house operations” and the integration of manufacturing and shipping. Once in service, the new vessel will help CMES expand its green Ro-Ro capacity, providing robust shipping infrastructure to support the export of Chinese automobiles.
