Carlova Maritime, the Greek shipping company led by Anthony Inglessis, is further expanding its newbuilding program with a fresh investment in the dry bulk sector.
According to market reports, Carlova Maritime has signed a contract with Hengli Heavy Industries for the construction of one 82,000 DWT Kamsarmax bulk carrier, scheduled for delivery in 2027.
With this new order, Carlova Maritime has further strengthened its partnership with Hengli Heavy Industries, signing a contract for the construction of one 114,000 DWT Aframax tanker scheduled for delivery in 2028.
In the tanker sector, in addition to the order placed with Hengli Heavy Industries, Carlova Maritime has ordered two 300,000 DWT Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) from Hanwha Ocean, with deliveries slated for 2028 and 2029.
According to its official website, Carlova Maritime currently manages a fleet comprising nine tankers and four dry bulk carriers. The entire existing fleet was built by Japanese shipyards, reflecting the Inglessis family’s long-standing preference for Japanese-built vessels.
Carlova Maritime is understood to be the successor to the business of the established Greek shipping company Samos Steamship. In 2025, brothers Anthony Inglessis and John Inglessis—who had jointly managed Samos Steamship—split the business and established independent shipping companies, with each taking the helm of Carlova Maritime and JHI Steamship, respectively.
