Hudong-Zhonghua Reaches Key Milestone with First IBAIZABAL LNG Bunkering Vessel Sea Trials

Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding’s IBAIZABAL project reached a key milestone as the first 18,600 cbm LNG bunkering vessel wrapped up sea trials with flying colors.

The schedule for this sea trial underwent multiple adjustments due to the impact of the typhoon. Prior to the typhoon’s arrival, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding completed the commissioning of cryogenic equipment and dual-fuel machinery in the engine room, ensuring technical readiness for gas station operations.

During the typhoon’s passage, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding effectively organized personnel for duty and closely monitored the vessel’s status, successfully withstanding the storm. Once the typhoon had passed, the company immediately coordinated with the gas station to ensure the smooth completion of operations.

During the sea trials, Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding ensured the seamless transition between testing phases, guaranteeing that the work proceeded on schedule, in an orderly manner, and with high efficiency. Thanks to the concerted efforts and collaborative problem-solving of all participating departments, the shipyard successfully completed all items of the “two-in-one” sea trial to a high standard.

The vessel has now officially entered the delivery phase; the construction team is actively addressing all feedback from the sea trials and going all out to achieve the goal of a high-quality delivery.
