On August 27, CSSC Chengxi Shipyard successfully delivered the third 17,000 DWT asphalt carrier “Palanca Tokyo” built for Kumiai Senpaku Co., Ltd.—marking the successful completion of the 17,000 DWT asphalt carrier series project.

This type of vessel features a single-propeller, single-rudder configuration and is powered by a low-speed diesel engine; designed primarily for transporting high-temperature liquid cargoes such as asphalt and refined petroleum products, it has an overall length of 160 meters, a beam of 23.5 meters, a design draft of 8.5 meters, and a service speed of 13.5 knots.
This vessel is a flagship project meticulously executed by CSSC Chengxi Shipyard for Kumiai Senpaku. Building upon the successful delivery of the first two 17,000 DWT asphalt carriers, the shipyard leveraged its accumulated technical expertise and management excellence, fully integrating the concepts of standardized processes and refined control into the entire construction of the “Palanca Tokyo”. Since the start of construction, the shipyard has remained committed to the goal of achieving “five-fold integrity”, drawing deeply on lessons learned from previous projects and employing meticulous planning to significantly boost production efficiency.
