On August 7, Zhoushan Changhong International simultaneously held the steel-cutting ceremonies for two 3,100-TEU container ships being built for the Greek shipowner Costamare Shipping.
Developed by Neptun Design, this vessel type is a highly competitive feeder container ship. The vessel measures approximately 199.98 meters in overall length, 35.2 meters in beam, and 17.9 meters in draft, and is classified by DNV. Equipped with a medium-voltage shore power system, the vessel can shut down its onboard generators while berthed, effectively reducing carbon emissions, sulfur emissions, and other air pollutants.
The hull line is optimized for various draft and trim conditions, achieving a speed of over 18.6 knots under 90% SMCR operating conditions, while significantly reducing fuel consumption in economic speed mode. Structural strength has been verified and reinforced via finite element analysis to cover all load scenarios, including potential slamming loads. The vessel is equipped with a desulfurization system that supports the use of high-sulfur fuel oil, enhancing operational efficiency; simultaneously, both the main engine and auxiliary generators are fitted with SCR systems to meet Tier III emission standards.
