Guangxin Equipment Launches First Shipbuilding Project

On July 15, Guangdong Guangxin Marine Equipment Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Guangxin Equipment) successfully kicked off construction of a 49.8-meter grab dredger for CSSCg Guangzhou Shipyard International. This marks the first shipbuilding project to be launched following the signing of a framework cooperation agreement between Guangxin Group and Guangzhou Shipyard International, and it is also the first complete shipbuilding project undertaken by Guangxin Equipment since its establishment.

With an overall length of 49.8 meters, a beam of 20 meters, and a draft of 4.2 meters, this vessel is classified as a Class A non-self-propelled grab dredger for inland waterways. It is primarily used for dredging and desilting inland waterways and docks, and offers high maneuverability, comfort, and cost-effectiveness. The implementation of this project will continue to deepen and strengthen industrial collaboration between central and local governments, as they work together to open up new horizons in shipbuilding.

Guangxin Equipment was established in March of this year as a joint venture between Guangzhou Shipyard International and Guangxin Group. The company occupies a site of 400,000 square meters and is equipped with specialized facilities, including an 80,000-ton dry dock, a 30,000-ton slipway, a 600-meter outfitting pier, and a 600-ton gantry crane, ensuring comprehensive infrastructure. Guangxin Equipment has secured orders totaling nearly 2 billion yuan, with delivery schedules extending through 2029.

Leveraging Guangzhou Shipyard International’s proven shipbuilding technology and management systems, Guangxin Equipment focuses on green and smart vessels and high-end offshore engineering equipment, specializing in high-tech products such as methanol dual-fuel chemical tankers and product tankers, as well as dive support vessels. Its core products are environmentally friendly, energy-efficient, and offer industry-leading performance.

According to the plan, Guangxin Equipment aims to establish a model of coordinated development between complete shipbuilding and section manufacturing within five years, with the goal of building a modern shipbuilding base in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
