Recently, Shandong Luhai Equipment Group successfully signed a contract with a European client for an order of 4+2 12,600 DWT multi-purpose vessels. This marks the fifth European market that Shandong Luhai Equipment Group has successfully entered, following the United Kingdom, Germany, and other countries, extending its network of cooperative partnerships in Europe from Western Europe to the Eastern Mediterranean.
The 12,600 DWT multi-purpose vessel covered by this contract has a total length of 149.9 meters, a beam of 22.8 meters, and a draft of 12.0 meters. Classed by DNV, it is expected to be delivered in stages between 2028 and 2029 and is one of the flagship vessel types that the Group is prioritizing for development.
In September 2025, Shandong Luhai Equipment Group signed a contract with a British shipowner for an initial order of four 12,600 DWT multi-purpose vessels; in April 2026, the shipowner placed an additional order for two 12,600 DWT multi-purpose vessels.
With the latest order finalized, Shandong Luhai Equipment Group has now secured a total of 10 vessels in its 12,600 DWT multi-purpose ship order book. Together with the 7,400 DWT and 17,500 DWT multi-purpose vessels previously contracted, these form a comprehensive multi-purpose vessel product portfolio and have established a large-scale, batch-production sequence, with the production schedule extending through the end of 2029.
Shandong Luhai Equipment Group stated that the mass production of this series of vessels will enable the rapid reuse of design experience, the standardization and consolidation of manufacturing processes, and the intensive allocation of supply chain resources. This will generate significant economies of scale across all stages—including design, procurement, production, and management—thereby reducing costs and improving efficiency.
The establishment of the multi-purpose vessel product portfolio signifies that Shandong Luhai Equipment Group now possesses a comprehensive supply capability in this vessel segment—ranging from small- and medium-sized flexible vessels to large heavy-lift vessels—enabling the company to provide precisely tailored solutions to meet the needs of different regional markets and cargo types, thereby further enhancing its market competitiveness.
