The vessels covered by the contract are 1,100 TEU container ships, with a unit price of $22.8 million. The six vessels will be delivered between March 31, 2028, and August 31, 2028, or earlier.

Hai Feng International stated that building vessels under the shipbuilding option contracts will enable the Group to expand its owned container fleet to meet the growing demand for its operations.

In 2026, Hai Feng International has announced two shipbuilding contracts. On January 30, Hai Feng International announced that it had exercised options for two 2,700 TEU container ships with Huanghai Shipbuilding Company Limited, with delivery expected by January 31, 2029, and March 31, 2029, respectively. To date, Hai Feng International has placed orders for eight 2,700 TEU container ships with Huanghai Shipbuilding. The first four vessels were ordered in August 2025, and orders for two additional vessels of the same type took effect in October.

According to its official website, Hai Feng International is a leading Asian shipping and logistics company headquartered in Hong Kong. Its business operations span container liner shipping, ship management, ship brokerage, international freight forwarding, ship agency services, customs clearance and inspection, LCL (less than container load) consolidation, supply chain management, specialized logistics, warehousing, container yards, terminals, logistics automation and information technology, and smart equipment.

Yangzi Hongyuan Shipbuilding and New Yangzi Shipbuilding, which are building the six 1,100 TEU container ships, are both shipbuilding subsidiaries of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding.

Yangzi Hongyuan Shipbuilding was established in April 2024 with a registered capital of $150 million. In July 2024, Yangzijiang Shipbuilding signed an agreement with Xinquiao Town (Xinquiao Industrial Park) in Jingjiang for the Yangzi Hongyuan Green High-Tech Clean Energy Shipbuilding Base project, marking the establishment of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding’s new shipbuilding base in Jingjiang.

Construction of the Yangzi Hongyuan Green High-Tech Clean Energy Shipbuilding Base project began in February 2025, with completion and commencement of operations scheduled for the end of 2026. Preliminary shipbuilding work (such as steel structure fabrication) began in the first quarter of 2026, and the first newly built vessel is expected to be delivered in 2027.

New Yangtzi Shipbuilding is a core shipbuilding base under Yangzijiang Shipbuilding. Most of the orders announced by Yangzijiang Shipbuilding in 2026 are being built at this shipyard. In addition to some of the 1,100 TEU container ships for Hai Feng International, the order book includes seven 5,900 TEU container ships for Evergreen Marine Corp, 4+4 1,900 TEU container ships for Shanghai Jinjiang Shipping, and 2+2 MR2-class product tankers ordered by Italy’s DIS.
