On March 5, Jiangxi New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry signed an order with Changhang Cargo Shipping (Zhoushan) for the construction of two 20,000 DWT LNG new energy bulk carriers for specific routes.

This collaboration not only reflects the complementary strengths of both parties, but also represents a key step for Jiangxi New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry in expanding its high-end customer base for new energy vessels and deepening its cooperation with leading domestic shipping companies.
The 20,000 DWT new energy bulk carrier signed this time is a river-sea direct vessel for the Yangtze River Class A navigation area. The vessel is equipped with two 2,000kW main engines, and the LNG power can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 20%, contributing to the green development of Yangtze River shipping.

It is reported that the partner, Changhang Cargo Shipping (Zhoushan), is a core enterprise under China Yangtze Shipping Group. Its business scope encompasses cargo transportation, ship agency services, and other operations. Leveraging the resource advantages of China Yangtze Shipping Group, it possesses deep expertise and extensive experience in the shipping sector.
As China’s largest inland waterway shipping conglomerate, China Yangtze Shipping Group has designated Jiangxi New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry as a strategic supplier for its 2026-2028 shipbuilding program. This collaboration will establish core performance records in partnering with major state-owned enterprises, enhance industry recognition, and lay the groundwork for expanding clientele and establishing a strong market presence.
Jiangxi New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry has consistently focused on the research, development, and construction of green and intelligent vessels since its establishment. It has successfully incubated Jiangxi Pi Ship Technology Development Co., Ltd. as a platform for developing and building new energy vessels, achieving a transformation of its production capacity and doubling its output value. Previously, the company has signed contracts and delivered multiple container ships and chemical tankers equipped with LNG micro-ignition and dual-fuel propulsion systems.
This signing aligns perfectly with the group’s focus on green shipbuilding and will further integrate its internal resources across the entire shipbuilding industry chain, including R&D, design, and construction. It will also leverage the combined strengths of Jiangxi Pi Ship Technology Development, focusing on differentiated customers in the new energy ship sector, its technological expertise, mature production team, and integrated design, production, and equipment capabilities to efficiently advance order fulfillment.
This will not only contribute to the overall improvement of the Group’s new energy shipbuilding capabilities, but also enable the efficient allocation of resources, supply chain synergy, and product and service combination between Jiangxi New Jiangzhou Shipbuilding Heavy Industry and Jiangxi Pi Ship Technology Development, thereby forming economies of scale and brand effect. This order is not only a recognition of New Jiangzhou’s comprehensive strength by the customer, but also an important practice for the company to implement the Group’s development concept of “moving towards innovation, greening, and high-end, and building green, standardized, and high-end new energy ships”.
